    2. Tin Building Theatre Production: “Always…Patsy Cline” – Clifton (all-day)
      May 19

“Always…Patsy Cline,” a tribute to the legendary country singer. The show is based on a true story about Cline’s friendship with a fan named Louise Seger, who befriended the singer in l961, and continued a correspondence with Cline until her death in 1963. The play focuses on the fateful evening when Seger hears of Cline’s death. Seger supplies a narrative while Cline floats in and out of the set singing tunes that made her famous. Many of Patsy’s timeless hits such as Crazy, I Fall to Pieces, She’s Got You, Sweet Dreams and Walkin’ After Midnight are included in the musical presentation, more than 20 songs in all. The show’s title was inspired by Cline’s letters to Seger, which were signed “Love ALWAYS… Patsy Cline.”

Performances scheduled beginning May 5 and ending May 19 include two Dinner Theaters, two regular performances and a Matinee. For reservations call the Tin Building Theatre at 254-675-2278, Monday through Friday, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.

      MUSICAL:

Desperate to find money to pay for his floating crap game, Nathan Detroit bets Sky Masterson a thousand dollars that Sky will not be able to take a local Salvation Army girl, Sarah Brown, to Cuba. While Sky eventually is able to convince Sarah to join him, Nathan battles with his fiancé of fourteen years, Adelaide. Sky ends up falling in love with Sarah and tries to reform his gambling ways betting all the members of the floating crap game that if he wins his roll of the dice, they will all have to go to church and repent. If he loses, he will give them each a thousand dollars. He ends up winning and all the gamblers end up visiting the mission and repent of their sins, which are many.

    3. Solar Eclipse in US
      12:30 pm – 7:00 pm
Mark your calendar. On Sunday, May 20th, the sun is going to turn into a ring of fire. It’s an annular solar eclipse–the first one in the USA in almost 18 years.
An annular eclipse occurs when the Moon passes directly in front of the sun, but the lunar disk is not quite wide enough to cover the entire star.  At maximum, the Moon forms a “black hole” in the center of the sun.
In the United States, the afternoon sun will become a luminous ring in places such as Medford, Oregon; Chico, California; Reno, Nevada; St. George, Utah; Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Lubbock, Texas.
This event should not be confused with a total eclipse.  In a total eclipse, the Moon covers the entire surface of the sun, bringing an eerie twilight to observers in the path of totality and revealing the sun’s ghostly corona.
